Why you should not support the parties or their candidates.
This is why you should not vote for anyone but Nader or me. Because all the candidates knew this but only the two of us have been willing to say so and demand that these criminals be impeached:

Obama loses it
(3 comments)
So now it is now more clear than ever that there is no hope at all among the leading three candidates that any one of them has the courage, the consciousness, or the capacity to lead this country out of its quagmire.

Complaining Accomplishes Nothing
(1 comments)
Have you noticed that all this complaining that commentators engage in accomplishes very little? What would accomplish something? There is only one course of action that can make a difference now. If you have a better idea, I'd like to hear it.

No Such Thing as a Spoiler
Since Clinton and Obama both agree that there's no such thing as a "spoiler" it would be fitting, proper, courageous, and right for both of these candidates to defend the right of non-party candidates, such as Ralph Nader and others, to have their voices heard during this campaign.

What's going on with our money?
Large and well endowed economies like the US can choose to make, sell, or engage in any number of activities and do so effectively. But US policy makers have decided to concentrate the country's energies in one specific area, and that strategic focus, while once successful, is leading the country to its inevitable decline and ruin.

Guantanamo Comes to Main Street U.S.A.
Our silence and indifference to the plight of others is what allows this kind of thing to happen. You probably won't get a better wake up call than this. No doubt bad public relations will force this kind of evidence into dark corners. The question is, will we wake up, or will we remain silent until something like this happens to someone we know and care about... or maybe to a lot of people we know and care about?

Here's Your Chance to Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is
(2 comments)
I see that someone is exploring whether or not there is interest in having Ralph Nader run for President in 2008.
I for one am interested in having him run and would support his candidacy. I would do so because I believe that of all the people who have been candidates for President in recent memory he would make the best president.

Remembering Marting Luther King and Others
(3 comments)
His contribution and the contribution of all who helped make him what he was-which is to say, all those who marched, boycotted, broke the rules, sat at lunch counters and on buses, got dog bit, hand cuffed, fire hosed, jailed and billy clubbed so that he might have a platform on which to speak-cannot be properly honored with fancy words or platitudes.

The Last Man Standing
(2 comments)
Somehow people who are out to fight evil are never at a loss at finding evil in whoever seems to be in their way now, or might be in the future. In that consciousness, the only real way to get rid of evil once and for all will be when the only folks left are The Last Man Standing... and his or her slaves.

I Can Show You How To Build An Empire
The problem is that these would-be builders of empire have no imagination or finesse. They haven't the sense to look at history and see that what they are doing was already tried before and failed. They repeat the same stupidities like greedy idiot lemmings... Building an Empire might actually be a good idea if, it weren't always being pursued by idiots and fools.

Nothing to Fear
(5 comments)
What you should realize is that the only solutions available require self-awareness and a commitment to personal responsibility. There is no institution that can change consciousness for the better. Only individual human beings can do that one person at a time -- alone -- through personal determination and commitment. No government can do it, no corporation can do it, no religion can do it.

Paulson: Social Security approaching $13.6 Trillion Deficit
(1 comments)
What I would like to suggest is that Paulson go back to the drawing board and see how the numbers come out if we assume that we actually had a foreign policy that strived to foment peace and justice in the world instead of war and discord.

60 Minutes Interviews Iran's President Mahmoud Amadenijad
(2 comments)
So all Pelley demonstrated, as far as I could tell, was that no one at 60 Minutes or any other mainstream media organization would ever have the guts to interview Bush or Cheney in the same manner. If we ever could find someone who would be willing to ask tough, penetrating, unscripted questions of Bush or Cheney, I guess it would be the last interview they would ever do.

Debating Iraq
(1 comments)
In arguing why we should stay in Iraq during a recent debate, Republican Mike Huckabee, on stage with other candidates, gave this as his reason why: He spoke about a lesson he learned from his mother when he was a child. What he learned from her, he said, was that if he went into a store and "if I picked something off the shelf at the store and I broke it, I bought it."

On Sub-Prime Behavior

Replacing Our Government With One That's Legitimate
(1 comments)
Further, I suggested that folks who want to transform our failed government into a government of, by, and for the People should be spending their energies on finding new qualified candidates to support for public office so that it will be possible to replace the current betrayers. We need to replace elected officials throughout the entire spectrum of elective offices.

What Do Sub-Prime Loans Have To Do With The Stock Market?
Unfortunately, the fear associated with sub-prime loans losses appears to be carrying over into other markets and now other loans are hard to get too. Many people are arguing that the Fed should now come to the rescue by lowering rates to make it easier for individuals and businesses to get the credit they need. But for the Fed, that presents a problem.

Time out for a moment of paranoia

Our Children's Last Chance
(6 comments)
The transformation of the United States from a first world country to a failed state is well under way and perhaps close to complete when you consider the dynamics in play.
No one in government is suggesting a strategy that would reverse these dynamics.
In my view, the only strategy that will now reverse these dynamics must necessarily include the following four components:

An Open Letter to Scott Ritter
I don't agree with everything Cindy Sheehan says or does. I don't agree with everything anybody does or says. But at least I can see she is steadfastly trying to do her best to defend her country, if for no other reason than to honor her son. I don't think you can point to any one member of Congress-not one-and say the same thing.

Now What Are You Going To Do?
In 1988, when people were campaigning for president, I once wrote a commentary in which I said something to the effect, that if you elect one more president who doesn't love you, very soon you will no longer be living in a free country. I was right. No one seems to realize that it was HW who gave you W. Now what are you going to do?

And if you haven't the courage to tell the truth, or the consciousness to honor the truth, or the love to love the truth, then one day you will not have the truth to tell, and soon thereafter you will not live in a place that will acknowledge the truth when it is told, and not long after that the truth will not be told for it will no longer be allowed.

Half Hearted Attempts at Defending the Constitution
(2 comments)
In a very real sense these timid attacks on Bush and his criminal administration are counter productive. What they communicate is that no public figure has the courage to tell the simple truth about the crimes and deceit perpetrated by this administration. One by one our most well known political leaders are offering these half-hearted attempts at defending the constitution, which in reality is no defense at all.

Gee Whiz, Bill Moyers, please explain yourself
(2 comments)
The special was generally informative and a good contribution to the national dialog, but why did he have to end it with an estimate offered by an administration that almost never tells the truth about anything. If the best estimate we have is that over 650,000 excess civilian deaths have occurred as a result of the war, then certainly a lot more than 35,000 Iraqis died last year.

The Price of Oil
(12 comments)
How much will a gallon of gasoline cost? The price at the pump is a mere fraction of what we all will pay. Perhaps the highest price we will pay will be in the form of our own stupidity, our ignorance, our immaturity, and the persistence of myth in our lives... the separation of self from reality... the persistence of unenlightenment and all the sorrow that that entails.

What does it mean to win an illegal war?
I hear members of Congress talking about how concerned they are about the possibility of having our troops experience defeat in the Iraq war. They want the troops to experience a win. But how can soldiers engaged in an illegal war experience a win? What does winning an illegal war mean? Does it mean that we will not give up until we are able to extricate ourselves without having to pay a price for our war crimes?

How Bush Is Getting Jews To Give Up Judaism And Destroy Israel

If the US and/or Israel goes ahead and bombs Iran under the pretext of stopping their atomic energy program, Iran might refuse to sell its oil for dollars. This probably would precipitate a world wide economic recession with the US economy being among the primary losers.
