Election 2004: The Urban Legend Action Package-Tell Your Rep
(3 comments)
Take action on the latest findings that Election 2004 was a complete mess built on absurd assumptions: Bush had less rural votes in 2004 than 2000, 2 million less, but increased his big city vote share in 2004 by over 150%. He won it through "big city" vote gains. Give us a break!!! If they say 'get over it,' say: "A three year old major crime is always news until it's solved."

Sludge Report #177=Bigger Than Watergate II
The Muckraking "Sludge Report" from "Scoop" Independent News (C.D. Sludge) strikes out on election fraud. "Scoop" helped launch the hunt for lousy e-voting machines in 2003 and has been "of record" on election fraud since the 2002 mid term elections. Today, Sludge draws conclusions from "2004 Election: Urban Legend" - how Bush won 2004 in the big cities (stranger than fiction). Not a dull moment...

2004 Election: The Urban Legend - Bush Won in Big Cities
(13 comments)
Did you know Bush had 2 million less votes in the rural sector in 2004 than 2000? Did you know that rural America contributed 16% of total votes in 2004 but 23% in 2000? Surely you knew that the "big city" voting segment was up 66% in turnout in 2004 and that Bush went from 26% in 2000 to 39% share in 2004? Bet you didn't know Bush took election 2004 on the basis of gains in the "big cities" (over 500,000)?

Collins: US Attorney Hit List as Early as 2005?
Carol Lam was one outstanding United States Attorney. She nailed down one of the biggest political corruption cases in recent history with a guilty plea from former Republican Congressman Randal "Duke" Cunningham in November, 2005. His crimes included conspiracy to commit bribery, fraud... A recently released Department of Justice email carried by Talking Points Memo Document Collection raises an interesting question

"The Soldier Vote" - A Memorial Day Tribute
(3 comments)
When we ask soldiers to go to places like Helmand Province, Afghanistan to risk their lives, we have an obligation of the highest order: make sure that they're able to take part in the democratic process that ultimately determines their role and fate in the U.S. military. ...when a soldier shows up to vote, give him or her a ballot, then send it off to the soldier's state with orders to count it in the appropriate election.

Comey's Evidence of a Crime - Impeachment Charges Just Sitting There!
Tuesday was a remarkable day at the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee hearings. The exchange between Sen. Charles Schumer, R, NY and former Deputy Attorney General James Comey provides clear evidence pointing to criminal activity by the president, U.S Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and former presidential adviser, Andrew Card. If Comey's testimony is supported, they all face serious charges.

Did Bush Commit Election Fraud? (Part 2)
This article describes the coordinated effort on the part of the Republican Party to establish alleged voter fraud committed by Democrats as a serious problem. Despite the disruptions it caused, an evaluation of the evidence shows the effort failed on multiple levels. Yet the effort perseveres and the myth that voter fraud is rampant is promoted even today by Republican operatives and others who should know better.

Did Bush Commit Election Fraud?
There is sufficient evidence in the public domain to strongly suspect that Bush committed election fraud in the handling of the U.S. Attorney firings. ... Pressuring a U.S. Attorney into a bogus indictment is a federal crime. Domenici lawyered up after Iglesias described his conversation with the senator. Gonzales and Sampson both denied initiating the call on the firing. So it's Bush, and only Bush, as the author ...

"We Pretend to Vote, They Pretend to Get Elected"
This is a big week for elections and voting rights advocates. In addition to being a huge political event, the activity surrounding the Holt Bill, H.R. 811, is highly symbolic,. The symbolism is that of diversion and denial. Holt is the apotheosis of the 2002 Help America Vote Act (HAVA). That nihilistic effort was supposed to take care of the problems of Florida in 2000. Unfortunately, Congress missed the point.

"Who Willed It?" In Honor of the Easter Rising, Ireland, April 1916
(9 comments)
The will of the people, expressed through free and fair elections, should be the foundation of our country. WHO WILLED that the president lie us into a war that creates rather than eliminates terrorists? WHO WILLED that the White House order government scientists to suppress the truth about everything from new medicines to global warming, scientists supported by our tax dollars?

Sleep Walking Through History - Willing Participants in Our Own Demise
(4 comments)
The shocked reaction to the abrupt dismissal of eight U.S. Attorneys points to the essence of our current political problems. The broad based political reaction to the Gonzales firings contains one critical assumption: this is an aberrant act. Something terribly wrong has taken place and the political establishment rises to defend the system. The system wasn't abused so much as exposed.

U.S. Attorneys: Asleep at the Switch - The Long Road to Democracy
U.S. Attorney Iglesias didn't do much prosecuting for "voter fraud" in 2004, nor did he do much election fraud investigating and prosecuting either. Voter fraud occurred at a rate of 24 cases between 2002 and 2006. This type of fraud is an individual act and, in the aggregate, is a non event impacting an immeasurably small fraction of the vote. U.S. Attorney's, some even trained on vote fraud by Iglesias...

Rough Justice by Gonzales Exposes "Voter Fraud" Scam
(2 comments)
The Bush-Gonzales firings of U.S. Attorneys unearthed a much bigger scandal. The Department of Justice has deliberately pursued "voter fraud" cases (8 convictions a year!) as a means of promoting laws theat lead to voter suppression. Minorities & the poor are the victimes but we all lose as a result. This is the second in a series in "Scoop" on "Fired Federal Prosecutors."

Fired Federal Prosecutors and Election Fraud; Sacked for Indicting Republicans
(5 comments)
December 7, 2006 was Pearl Harbor Day for eight distinguished federal prosecutors. They were fired for no good reason. A careful review shows that four of the eight had one thing in common: the way that they handled election fraud cases sent the White House and other Republican leaders up the wall.
