No Senator, Don Imus misspoke, you just plain got busted by a couple of courageous journalist who had the nerve to tell it like it is ! Come hell or high water !
Well, Well, Well !! I can almost hear Gomer Pyle saying "Well golly , surprise, surprise, surprise !" Isn't it amazing what a couple of guys can do when they speak truth to power. So there is, (it seems) at least one sane person left in the McCain Organization who no doubt told his boss behind closed doors ... We're so busted ! The best thing you can do is start back peddling, and take the hit, and make this thing go away ! We could have handled one shot across the bow, with Michael Ware for CNN, but Allen Pizzey has CBS behind him, for God's sake. They're just going to start piling on, so we gotta nip this thing in the bud !
Reuters: "U.S. Sen. John McCain said in an interview to be broadcast on Sunday he misspoke in his recent upbeat comments about security in Baghdad, where he traveled under heavy military protection."
My Translation: OK, I lied.
Reuters: "McCain said he regrets comments he made after a tour of Baghdad last Sunday, when he said he could see progress and the American people were not being told the "good news" about the war, according to excerpts of his comments and a press release provided by "60 Minutes."
My Translation: They told me not to shovel it that deep! That damn Wolf Blitzer !
Reuters: "Of course I am going to misspeak and I've done it on numerous occasions and I probably will do it in the future," said McCain, according to "60 Minutes.
My Translation: Look, you know I'm not above lying , I've been doing it for years and as long as I can get away with it, I will keep on doing it.
Reuters: McCain acknowledged in this "60 Minutes" interview that he had been accompanied by heavy security during his trip. "I can understand why (the Army) would provide me with that security, but I can tell you that if it had been two months ago and I'd asked to do it, they would have said, 'Under no circumstances whatsoever,'" he said.
My Translation: Well hell, I'm still alive right ? A couple of months ago I would have been dead, so there, ya see things must be better, right ?
Reuters: McCain had been upbeat about his drive from the Baghdad airport into the city and his visit to a market where multiple car bombings killed 71 people in February as signs of improved security. After he spoke, Iraqi citizens, merchants and others said security had been stepped up for the choreographed visit.
My Translation: Kind of lonely out there in Never Never Land huh Senator ? Hey, we may be stupid Senator, but we're not crazy !

McCain told the media exactly what he truly believes, the situation in Iraq is improving.
He wore a flak jacket and had 100+ troops escorting him? He has six secret service escorts to go the men's room in the Capitol and Baghdad IS a combat zone.
McCain's subsequent collapse and his statement on misspeaking show once again that McCain is all about telling the people what they want to hear.
McCain simply does not have the backbone to be anything but a gadfly.
