ACTIVE GENERALS READY TO REVOLT AGAINST BUSH IRAQ SURGE

The active Generals are close to fed up with Bush's denial of the Iraq quagmire and are ready to stage an intervention against his surge plan ~ as the American body count continues to accelerate. General John Batiste started the ball rolling by retiring ~ in protest against Bush for not listening to his commanders in the field ~ see 30 second video http://snipurl.com/1k3u8

Yesterday the American Progress Report picked up the thread and reported  that more active Generals are prepared to join Bastiste in revolting against Bush if he maintains surge into 2008.

IRAQ -- ACTIVE DUTY GENERALS WILL "REVOLT" AGAINST BUSH IF HE MAINTAINS ESCALATION INTO 2008

Appearing on NBC's Chris Matthews Show yesterday, Atlanta Journal-Constitution editorial page editor Cynthia Tucker reveals that sources within the military are warning of "a revolt from active-duty generals if September rolls around and the president is sticking with the surge into '08.'"

Noting that retired generals such as Gen. John Batiste have already begun voicing their discontent with the President's strategy in Iraq, Tucker added that the generals "don't want to fall by the wayside like the generals in Vietnam did, kept pushing a war that they knew was lost."

When President Bush vetoed the Iraq timeline legislation earlier this month, he claimed that "the measure would 'impose impossible conditions on our commanders in combat' by forcing them to 'take fighting directions from politicians 6,000 miles away in Washington, DC." But despite past claims that "the right force level" will be determined by "the sober judgment of our military leaders," the Bush administration has a proven track record of disregarding the advice of military leaders.

As recently as last December, when the White House was first pushing its escalation plan, the administration explicitly ignored "the unanimous disagreement of the Joint Chiefs of Staff."

If Tucker's sources are correct, it appears the commanders on the ground in Iraq are getting tired of "taking fighting directions" from the politician "6,000 miles away" in the White House. And they might not stay quiet for long.

COUP, COUP FOR COCOA PUFFS

I would LOVE to see the active duty generals point their tank turrets at the White House and yell " get out or we'll throw you out"!  I just wish they wouldn't wait 'till '08. That's too much time and lives to waste. That's a another 6 and half mos., for Christ's sake! We'll probably have another fake terrorist attack by then, so they can declare martial law and cancel the election!

REPLY

A far likely scenario would be for the active Generals to speak out against the Surge and force Bush's hand ~ it would be the ultimate bluff and if Bush called it by firing them ~ Congress would have no other choice but to launch impeachment proceedings because the people would support the Generals.

Of course, then Bush could declare Martial Law and we all take to the streets in mass demonstrations .

These guys won't go down lightly ~

BADGERS

The people are behind congress now, and they don't give a damn, right? They're becoming more and more like cornered badgers, and it's scary to think what they might do to come out. Like Bush is so fond of saying...BRING 'EM ON!

Sign the CBS petition re: Batiste

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/13/us/13generals.html?_r=3&oref=slogin&oref=slogin&oref=slogin  See Batiste's ads that caused CORPORATE CBS PNAC-supporters to FIRE him 2 days after they aired! Is anyone still in denial about Media CENSORSHIP??

http://pol.moveon.org/pac/batiste/   Corporate-CBS censors anyone who speaks out against Bush!!

Like Corporate CBS gives a shiney ratzazz, about a petition... shouldn't we recommend contacting CBS advertisers and boycotting them? It would be nice to find a way to break the media monopoly... but how? - seems this TOO depends on IMPEACHMENT FIRST!!
  -----------------------------------------
I'd like to observe that it may be the WRONG thing to do - if Generals quit - because that would only leave the field CLEAR FOR THOSE WHO WANT MORE WARS AND MORE KILLINGS - THE PNAC-SUPPORTERS!  That is why I hope they do NOT leave the Military... a few men with Integrity INSIDE the Military are 100% better than OUT of the Military where they can have NO actual influence at all!!
